In partnership with Kultura Collective and the Toronto Jewish Film Foundation, the Toronto Holocaust Museum is participating in the Shine A Light on Antisemitism initiative this December.
Join us for a special teachers-only FilmMatters screening of The Un-Word (Germany, 84 minutes, German with English subtitles).
After an altercation between an Iranian, Palestinian and Jewish student, the parents of the three boys are called to the school by their teacher to resolve the situation. Though full of good intentions, the teacher and various school administrators expose their own misguided assumptions, threatening to inflame the situation further. With a light satirical touch, the film explores the complexities of finding a common language in the fight against intolerance.
Before the film, there will be light refreshments. The screening will begin at 7:00 PM. After the film, teachers will be invited to share their own reflections and be provided with practical resources for combatting racial and religious intolerance in the classroom.
This is a FREE screening for ALL teachers and educators. Space is limited: only 200 seats are available.
